12/10/06 vs. Rangers (3-3-1)
The Rangers started the season 3-1-1, but have lost the last two, allowing fourteen goals in the process. Fortunately for us, in the past year, we have owned the Rangers, losing only once to them, while finding that our offense is not, in fact, anemic. Keeping with the theme of their previous two games, we seem to light the lamp whenever we play them as well and this game would prove to be no different.
In the first period, we jumped out to an early one goal lead from Tom N., which was sign of things to come. As the second period got underway, Tom struck again, as the Rangers could not seem to contain him. Midway through the second the Rangers finally got on the board, cutting the lead in half. But Tom was a one man wrecking crew this week, potting two more goals, giving him four on the day and bringing our lead up to 4-1 at the end of two periods. As the thrid period wore on, we were content to play with a three goal lead, but as oppotunities jumped at us to score more goals, we didn’t pass them up and Tom grabbed his fifth and final goal of the afternoon about halfway through the period. With juts a handful of minutes remaining, Lenny got on the scoresheet as well, patting home a one-time pass across the goal mouth, for our sixth goal of the evening. With less than two minutes to play, Josh found himself staring down a breakaway which the shooter fired over his left shoulder and into the net to score the Rangers final goal of the game.
Final Score: 6-2
Next week, Gang Green.
